With the whales at Partridge Point

Newsletter: Nice job!

Hi divers

It has been a pretty good week for diving, with good viz, water not too cold and very little wind with lots of the stuff I love… sunshine! We have done some pool work, training dives, casual dives and tourist trips and today was by far the best. We dived at Partridge Point with the seals, and had a whale and her calf pop up close to the boat as the divers surfaced. Dave Hurwitz of Simon’s Town Boat Company took this amazing photo for us.

Then we filmed huge rays at Millers Point, changed divers, and headed back to Partridge Point. We had top to bottom viz there, and then on to Pyramid to visit the cowsharks. The weather was by far the best I have had this winter. This is one of the reasons I love my job!

The weekend

This isn’t that hard a call as the wind is right for anything on Saturday, despite a little rain. Sunday doesn’t look great as there is a fair bit of southeasterly wind on Saturday night and Sunday morning. It does drop off later in the day so a later start will work.

Saturday

  • Launch from Millers Point at 9.30am and 12.30pm, two dives to max 18 metres for Open Water training

Sunday

As usual, text me if you want to dive. All aboard!
