Some days in winter we get cabin fever and I insist on taking a drive to somewhere that allows me to feel open space. Cape Point in Table Mountain National Park fills that need. On the day I took this picture, at the Cape of Good Hope, we’d driven through an inch of water that the wind was whipping into miniature waves on the roads, buffeting the car from side to side. Despite the unbelievably harsh conditions, there were still tourists posing with the sign designating the south western-most point in Africa.
