Flutemouth (enhanced)

Flutemouth in motion

Here’s a bit of video footage I took of some flutemouths at Long Beach on Monday 13 February. These little fish stuck around for a few weeks, staying in the shallow water where it’s warm. They probably washed into False Bay on an eddy of the Agulhas Current, as they aren’t usually found further south than Mossel Bay.

  1. I love these sorts of fish, I’ve run into their larger counterparts (like trumpetfish) in the Mediterranean and in the tropical pacific.
